The Human Girl of the Naga City

I'm disappointed this is so small! I messed up the resolution when I decided to enlarge the sketch. Still, it's the loveliest thing I've made of Jemimah so far.

Jemimah is the daughter of a Wood Mage and a Life Mage from the arid and sandy Calb'athrin Desert. Her parents ran a small, isolated hobby farm from their home along the bank of one of the many canals which extend straight and endless across the desert, bringing life-giving water to the most arid areas of Aire'Lios. Jem's mother, the Life Mage, would fly by cloud-skimmer into the closest city to work as a children's healer at a small clinic every few days. Her father loved tending to their garden, turning their little plot of land into a green jewel glowing in the golden sands.

Jemimah's parents were killed when a rogue Vampire clan attacked their home. Her father told the six year old Jemimah to hide beneath the staircase during the attack and stay silent. The Vampires never found her, though Jem heard every scream from her dark hiding place.

As human cities produce most of their food in garden spires, Jemimah's parents often sold their produce to a group of Naga traders. It was these Naga who found Jem alone and sobbing in the home where her parents lay still on the floor. One of the group, a deep red Naga called Sarhthrin, picked her up and carried her back to one of their desert rafts. He took her back to a Naga city, told the citizens she was staying and dared anyone to complain. Nobody did.

Sarhthrin was the eldest prince of that Naga city. His father, Alsalesh, was the king. Visitors to the city are often surprised when they meet the king's only daughter - a Human girl wearing the the cobra hood of a Naga woman. She often travels with her brothers and always carries a silver dagger on her hip - just in case Vampires try to take this family from her, too.
