Blood in the Water

(This is quite a lot darker than what I usually write - Locrian's story is not all that pleasant.)

When Locrian's clan was attacked by Vampire Hunters, he tried to lead the younger Vampires out across the river and into safety while the elders held off the attackers. He shielded the children when the hunters caught up and, after falling to their bullets and feeling consciousness slipping away, watched in horror as they gunned down the little ones. His last memory before blackness took him were terrified screams and the splash of little bodies falling into the water.

Locrian awoke washed upon the shore downriver, past a large waterfall. The forest above the cliff face - his clan's forest - was burning. Injured and close to death, he left the forest, haunted by grief and a desire to be anywhere but there. He spent weeks stumbling through desert before taking refuge in a Human city. He never went back.
